Country beat Town in a tussle for the Ron Hollandy Trophy on the indoor greens at Wingatui Hall on Saturday.

Thirty-two competitors took part in the 23rd trophy event, hosted this year by Taieri Sub-Association Indoor Bowls.

Country won the tournament with 431 match points and 68 game points over Town's 387 match and 44 game points.

Tournament hall controller Ian Hore, from the North Taieri Indoor Bowling Club, said the event went very well.

"We were pleased out this way,'' Hore, a life member and vice-president of the Taieri sub-association, said.

The Country team comprised players from Momona, Henley, the Mosgiel RSA, Silverwings, North Taieri and Taieri bowling clubs.

Town was made up of players from the Prince Albert, Mornington, Green Island, Kew, Kaikorai, Burnside, Waikari and Hillhead clubs.
